Following the strong response and support for our inaugural event this year, Co-directors David Don and Lincoln Savage have announced that Brisbane City will again become a canvas for the creative community in the second Brisbane Street Art Festival (BSAF) to be held in February 2017.
BSAF is an annual public arts event that seeks to provide opportunities for creative practitioners and wider community to engage, collaborate and develop positive partnerships. As an avenue for artistic expression BSAF endeavours to create a multi-disciplinary platform that encourages any and all art forms to participate. BSAF offers a recognised framework of display and engagement that Brisbane has been looking for.
Once again showcasing Brisbane’s vibrant emerging art scene, this iconic festival will provide opportunities for creative practitioners and the wider community to engage, collaborate and develop positive partnerships.
Beyond live mural art, the festival will also include live music, light shows, projection mapping, numerous exhibitions, creative masterclasses, workshops and multiple public forums from some of the world’s leading creatives.
With support already confirmed from Brisbane Powerhouse, Queensland University of Technology, Ironlak, Queensland Museum, JMC Academy, Tryp Hotel, Cornerstone Properties and Brisbane City Council, BSAF 2017 is looking to be bigger than ever. The event will be held across multiple locations, including Brisbane CBD, South Bank, West End, New Farm, Kelvin Grove, Fortitude Valley, Woolloongabba, Highgate Hill, and Newstead, and will feature more than 50 artists. Over the 2-week program BSAF 2017 will offer many opportunities for the public engage with some of the incredible creative talent that Australia has to offer across multiple sites and venues in Brisbane.
Artist applications are open until 31 October 31 and will be reviewed by a curatorial panel.
