Twenty-seven of Australia’s finest artists who work and live in central Victoria’s idyllic Daylesford and Macedon Ranges are opening up their studios for the fourth Daylesford Macedon Ranges Open Studios (DMROS) program.
Taking place over three weekends from Saturday 31 October to Sunday 15 November, DMROS offers art lovers the opportunity to meet the artists and go ‘behind the scenes’ of their creative process, learning about their work and inspiration.
Participating artists include: internationally renowned sculptor and designer Matthew Harding, thought-provoking sculptor Peter Butterworth, his son, political oil painter Daniel Butterworth, sculptor and print maker Tim Jones, oil painter Catherine Abel, and the creative duo of stone, sculptor and painter/illustrator Ashika and Padma Ostapkowicz.
DMROS Creative Producer Jill Rivers says, “The selected artists encompass an array of artistic practices from fresco painting, mosaic, sculpture and letterpress printing to handcrafted jewellery and art photography. What they share is a powerful connection to the inspiring region they have chosen to live and work in.”
Drawing over 4,000 visitors in 2014, the DMROS studios range in style and setting from intimate spaces to acres of bushland, forming an art-hop trail with plenty of culinary stops at hand for visitors to refresh and replenish as they tour the iconic region.
