‘Sour Crude’ is a powerful and political reflection of the world. Taking command of the entire gallery, and executed in her signature watercolour, the works put on trial the corruption, destruction and injustices of governments and big corporations.
This exhibition is a complex presentation and in some places without precedence in the artists oeuvre to orientate viewing or interpretation.
eX de Medici has incorporated and explored a range of themes and emblems over three decades: skulls, guns, weapons and ammunition, the genre of vanitas and still life, moths, botanical drawing, chemical, nuclear and biological pollutants and Islamic iconography. eX de Medici’s concerns reflect the complexity and ‘fucked-up-ness’ of the world.
