‘Phosphoresce’ by Gabrielle Courtenay is the first exhibition at the new art space, William Street Studio. Set up by antiques dealer and interior designer Ian Hadlow, as a space to showcase antiques alongside contemporary paintings and sculptures. ‘Phosphoresce’ delves into themes of connection and interaction and plays with removing symbols and mythology from their context, to allow the viewer to interpret their own story or meaning.
The exhibition sees Courtenay shift away from her monochromatic approach and embrace the intensity and brilliance of ultramarine blue to illuminate her paintings.
