Jamie Boyd describes ‘Notes for the Record’ as a collection of “original artworks done ‘on the spot’ whilst travelling with the original intention of using them as reference back in the studio at a later date. I like the idea of recording an impression of a place before it has become familiar and when time is limited.”
Dating from the 1970s to the present, Boyd’s drawings and paintings – a selection which includes oil on canvas, oil on board, watercolour and pencil on paper – feature Australian scenes including the Shoalhaven River, Bondi Beach, Port Melbourne and Sydney Harbour. Other cities include Paris, Venice, Tuscany, Pisa and Portugal.
