Marina Abramović’s arrival this June will not only challenge and engage audiences, but aims to have a lasting impact on the development of performance art in Australia.
Internationally renowned pioneer of performance art, Marina Abramović will mentor 12 Australian artists during an intensive live-in Residency Program for the 30th Kaldor Art Project. A part of Marina Abramović: In Residence, the selected Australian performers will be in residence on the top floor of Pier 2/3.
Taking Walsh Bay by storm, the 12 residents and Abramović will work within Pier 2/3, participating in the extensive public program as well as developing their own creative practice with Abramović and Abramović’s Method trainer Lynsey Peisinger.
Personally selected by Abramović from a list of 65 performance practitioners, suggested by Kaldor Projects, each performer challenges and experiments with performance traditions. The selected participants are: Nat Abbott (Melbourne); Frances Barrett (Sydney); Clark Beaumont comprised of Sarah Clark and Nicole Beaumont (Brisbane); Lottie Consalvo (Newcastle);
Nicola Gunn (Melbourne); George Khut (Sydney); Sarah Jane Norman (Berlin & the Blue Mountains); Sarah Rodigari (Sydney); Christian Thompson (London); and Zin, comprised of Harriet Gillies and Roslyn Helper (Sydney).

The Residency Program is a public platform for the artists to engage with the public through their creative practice. Participating in talks, workshops, and panel discussions, the residents will also have the opportunity to meet with leading Australian academics, curators and performance practitioners as part of a professional development series.
An amazing opportunity for Australian art, as well as for the public to bear witness to the creative process of Abramović, this event will be nothing short of ground breaking.
