The ‘Koorie Art Show’ is a non-acquisitive award exhibition, presenting the work of, emerging to senior, Koorie and Victorian based Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists. Now in its third year, the award received a record number of entries with over 70 artists presenting more than 120 works. All entries are currently on view in the Koorie Heritage Trust’s Gallery at Federation Square and are available for sale.

The awards were judged by Kent Morris, a Barkindji artist and CEO of The Torch, and Yhonnie Scarce, a nationally and internationally exhibiting Kokatha/Nukunu artist based in Melbourne.

Mediums include paintings, drawings, photography, etchings, natural materials and mixed media. For the first time this year, 3D works have been accepted into the show. The exhibition showcases a detailed variety of the approaches, styles and techniques applied by Victorian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.

The winning works are:
Creative Victoria Award for excellence in any media: Kelly Koumalatsos (Wergaia/Wemba Wemba), Ngarrenjuk Wile (possum fur), akua ink on black paper.
