International conceptual artist Marina Abramović and the Marina Abramović Institute (MAI) selected eight artists – Dr Christian Thompson, Collective Absentia, Indigo Perry, Li Binyuan, Melati Suryodarmo, Mike Parr, SJ Norman and Yingmei Duan – to engage in site-specific, long-durational work at Adelaide Festival Centre’s Space Theatre and nearby venues from 1 to 4 March, as part of the 2024 Adelaide Festival, from 1 to 17 March.

The ninth work on display will be a video installation by Abramović, guiding visitors through aspects of The Abramović Method, a participatory experience and exploration of being present in both time and space, preparing the public to experience long durational work. Public participation is encouraged as well as re-visitation to document the many changes and surprises in these evolving works, which include DNA sonification, blind painting, physical breakdowns, and the written word.
