The beautiful Northern Rivers/Border Ranges region of New South Wales was the perfect source of inspiration for artist Martin Gallagher’s latest body of work, ‘Pan’s Moonlight Encounters’.
“When I’m out in the rainforests it’s not difficult to imagine Pan and his nature spirits at play”, says Gallagher. “In several of my works, the forest and rock formations take on a life of their own, with faces and prying eyes, some like mythical creatures, often not becoming evident until I stand back and look at the painting. I like to enhance the prominent ones because it’s obvious to me that they’re meant to be there.”
