Merran Sierakowski: I Virii

Merran’s installation of viral forms, woven from computer data cable, explores what is both infectious and infected in the social media landscape. Her work is both a physical representation of the abstract viral nature of the Internet and social media. These viruses are intangible unseeable and feared. Much like real viruses and bacteria, we are surrounded and constantly being influenced and controlled by things we cannot see.

‘I Virii’ displayed in the NCCA Boxset, turn’s the artist’s focus toward social media within a much wider exploration of fear, its manifestation and the resulting interactions we generate within our society.
