Michelle Cawthorn: Bittersweet

Michelle Cawthorn, Bittersweet
Artist Michelle Cawthorn says that the person she knows herself to be is an amalgam of her experiences and the ‘trace’ that these experiences have left in her memory. Both pleasant and painful, and through representational and non-representational forms, the sculptures, drawings and paintings, she says, are “external expressions of my inner world.” Due to this, Cawthorn considers her resultant artwork to be bitter sweet.
