Rona Green, ‘Strokin’

Heavily inked cats, birds, dogs and rabbits dressed in the trappings of thugs and misfits populate the works of Rona Green, their assortment of tattoos implying misspent youth and other skulduggery. Animals are endowed with human characteristics in a continuation of the artist’s interest in identity, secret societies, subcultures and tattoo imagery.

Rona Green has been the recipient of numerous print awards including the Geelong Print Prize, the Silk Cut Award for Linocuts Grand Prize and the Fremantle Print Award. Her work has been acquired by regional and state galleries throughout Australia, the National Gallery of Australia and the Chiang Mai Contemporary Art Museum, Thailand.

Strokin’ is current until Sunday 11 March 2012.
