The theatre has been a long-standing passion for artist Susan Wald. To develop her personal language, she uses theatre as a springboard. Her wish is not to paint ballet or illustrate theatre but rather to “condense my own sensations to the essence of the experience and, when possible, to use metaphor to provoke the imagination,” she says. Wald’s interpretative images depict scenes with snippets of narrative. Viewers are given the freedom to explore the works and imagine what is taking place.
