Tim Jones constructs a uniquely dreamlike yet comfortingly familiar world in his latest exhibition, ‘Horace. The homely and the culinary’, comprising an installation of hand-carved sculptures and a series of works in bronze.
The imaginary character of Horace the Hare, a recognisable figure from Jones’ earlier woodblock prints has been realised for the first time in sculptural form. Jones masterfully carves into branches and logs to reveal domestic items such as houses, cutlery, vegetables and books, each varying in texture and finish, and all captivatingly tactile. Jones contemplates the cycles of life, themes of time, growth and nourishment, and referencing childhood memories.
